President Tinubu to Attend as Special Guest of Honour | Exhibition Participation Open
Nigeria’s Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in collaboration with the Ministry of Power is set to host a 2-day National Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Power in the Health Sector.
According to a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Health Ministry, Alaba Balogun, the “high-level event” themed: Powering Health Through Public-Private Synergy: Energising Nigeria’s Health Sector for the Future, will bring together policymakers, energy experts, healthcare leaders, development partners, and private sector innovators to address the urgent need for sustainable, reliable, and climate-smart energy solutions across Nigeria’s health facilities.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, will be a Special Guest of Honour at the event.
The statement also revealed that “a historic Power and Health Compact will be signed, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to delivering efficient and uninterrupted power to tertiary health institutions, in line with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the health sector’s 4-Point Agenda.
The key objectives of the dialogue include:
– Assessing Nigeria’s current power policy environment and its impact on health facilities.
– Showcasing innovative energy solutions including renewables, backup systems, and energy efficiency.
– Strengthening public-private partnerships for sustainable infrastructure development.
– Exploring and promoting innovative financing models, that unlock affordable, renewable, and sustainable electricity solutions for public and private health facilities in Nigeria ensuring energy access that is climate-smart, cost-effective, and aligned with the delivery of essential health services at all levels of care; and
– Developing a collaborative implementation and accountability framework for power interventions across all levels of care.
The event will feature a Technology and Innovation Exhibition, where private companies, startups, and energy solution providers are invited to showcase products, services, and models that can enhance power reliability in healthcare settings.
The country’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Dialogue is centred on securing Nigeria’s health facilities with sustainable energy to save lives and safeguarding the future.
“Power is health. Without reliable electricity, vaccines spoil, surgeries stall, and lives are lost”, the statement quoted the Minister.
Also, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, in his words said “a hospital without power is one without hope. This dialogue is not just about policy; it is about delivery. We are setting the stage for real solutions that benefit patients and frontline health workers”.
Furthermore, the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu said the collaboration is a pivotal step towards a future where Nigeria’s health sector is energised through sustainable, climate-smart systems. It sends a clear signal to investors that the sector is open, viable, and ready for transformation.
”The National Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Power in the Health Sector marks a critical milestone in Nigeria’s path toward building resilient health infrastructure powered by smart energy systems, and it reflects the government’s unwavering focus on results, reform, and public trust”, he stressed.
The dialogue will take place from Tuesday 09th to Wednesday 10th September, 2025 at the State House, Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
