The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has congratulated Nigerians on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, describing it as a milestone worth celebrating under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In a goodwill message to Nigerians, Dr. Abdullahi lauded President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly the administration’s bold solarization project, which he described as “unmatched in Nigeria’s history”.
According to him, the solarization drive reflects the federal government’s determination to provide Nigerians with a more sustainable power alternative, reduce pressure on the fragile national grid, and secure the country’s energy future.
> “No other administration since Independence has shown this level of commitment to alternative power supply as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government. The solarization initiative is not just about cutting costs—it’s about efficiency, energy equity, and shielding Nigerians from rising tariffs,” Dr. Abdullahi stated.
He emphasized that the project is expected to create massive job opportunities in solar manufacturing, installation, and maintenance, while also encouraging innovation among Nigerian engineers and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Abdullahi further noted that the transition to renewable energy would accelerate rural electrification, empower underserved communities, and set Nigeria on the path to achieving its national development goals.
> “History will remember this project as the spark that ignited Nigeria’s energy revolution—a future where clean, affordable power is accessible to all,” he added.
Reaffirming ECN’s commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s energy transition drive, the DG stressed that the Commission would continue to champion research, innovation, and global collaboration to align Nigeria’s policies with international climate goals.
He called on stakeholders and citizens alike to support the solarization initiative, describing it as central to achieving sustainable, uninterrupted power supply in Nigeria.
As the nation marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, Dr. Abdullahi urged Nigerians to unite behind the government’s reforms, expressing optimism that President Tinubu’s vision for total solarization will soon earn his administration “the loudest ovation it deserves”.
